Hallmarking
Hallmark is basically a symbol that acts as a safeguard of gold and golden objects that indicates the purity of gold. In simpler words we can say that Hallmark is the certification of the purity of gold. Hallmarking process basically involves evaluation of golden objects at hallmarking and Assaying centre which are later certified as pure on the national and international standards.
Mandatory Hallmarking
Hallmarking in India is a mandatory process. The jewelers who intend to get their jewellery hallmarked contact Bureau of Indian Standards and after acquiring the license the jewellery is sent to BIS recognized A&HMC. The Indian Government had launched BIS in the year 2000.
Hallmaring only to Licensed Jeweller
The license is offered by the Bureau of Indian Standards to the jewelers and the manufactures once they complete the requirements as per IS 1417:1999 which ensures the purity and practice of golden objects. This license enables the jewelers to trade the gold with credibility and trust to the customers.
Hallmarking in terms of HUID
If a golden object has a hallmark of Bureau of Standards Logo, it contains major aspects like the Bis mark,fineness number, six digit unique identification number. In simpler words the object is aptly tested and assured with complete purity.

Xrf Testing, Micro testing of all metal
XRF (x-ray Fluorescence) is a non destructive process of analysis of precious metals. Variety Hallmark has highly advanced and sophisticated German based X-ray machines to derive accurate and precise results of precious metals with the help of X-ray technology . These machines are also capable of testing Gold , silver, platinum and 108 metals and non metals. The emission of rays determines the purity of jewellery which is derived with the help of the computer.
Fire Assay of Gold Silver & White gold
Fire Assaying is the oldest and most reliable method of determining gold and silver in rock or concentrate samples. This method is still the industry standard. It is called ''fire'' assay because it involves smelting the sample which has been mixed with lead oxide. Until electric furnaces were available, samples were smelted literally in a fire.
